# Foundations of Astronomical Python

#### calendar\_today Date and Time

 **April 19, 2022**

 11:00AM - 12:00PM EDT

Join the CfA Innovation Scientist, Peter Williams, for an introduction to some of the foundational tools for doing astronomy in Python. This workshop in particular will focus on how to work with FITS files using the Astropy package, taking a learn-by-doing approach. We can only scratch the surface in an hour, of course, but the examples will try to draw out some broader ideas about how to write quality scientific code. NOTE: Attendees will need to bring laptops with Astropy and JupyterLab installed. Pointers on software installation will be emailed out to registered attendees ahead of time, and Peter will be available between 10:30am and 11am to help with software installation in person.

 Speaker: Peter Williams
