Collaboration Space

The Challenging Conversations course guides participants through the five interconnected steps that are critical to having a successful challenging conversation. Using this flexible model, individuals learn how to speak up directly and resolve conflict without alienating the other person, and learn to stay focused, even when triggered by what they are hearing. The result is better conflict resolution and greater confidence in addressing difficult situations. This session is being offered to SAO Department Admins and Managers. Pair Research Pilot

1:00pm to 2:30pm

Wolbach Library Collaboration Space

Pair Research is a tool developed at Northwestern University's Delta Lab to improve collaboration by matching members of a group for short meetings. Each time the group meets, each member writes a sentence describing their topic of interest for that week's meeting. The system tries to make pairs who haven't met before based on how members rate the available topics. Each pair then meets for an hour with half an hour of focus on each person's interest. Learn more about the tool and find the original paper here.
