Alison Doane (1958-2017) was Martha Hazen's assistant beginning in 1983, later rising to the title of Assistant Curator, and finally Curator of Astronomical Photographs in 2001. Doane was instrumental in stewarding the collection into the 20th century, and one of the key figures in concieving and implementing the DASCH digitization project. She also was a classically trained Oboist, among other instruments. Minor planet (7517) Alisondoane is named in her honor.
