Wolbach Library started hosting research interns to help the EONS team respond to the question:
How do we understand and present
Indigenous stories and their value to contemporary astronomy?

We plan to bring new interns onboard annually to help us move the EONS project forward.

Cayla Cummings

Cayla Cummings

Cayla is a graduate student at California State University, Fullerton in pursuit of her Master's in History with a concentration in African American History. Her field of focus for her master's thesis is the history of racial hybridity and the social construct of race in the United States since 1619.

As the research intern for EONS, Cayla conducts original research on the historically excluded cultural cosmologies of BIPOC, and the historical impact of colonialism in the field of astronomy. Cayla also developed the original EONS website and heavily influenced the direction, framing, and language associated with the project.

K Stawasz

K. Stawasz

K. is a senior at Harvard College with a joint concentration in History of Science and Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality, with a secondary in Astrophysics. In general, K. is interested in the role of gender and sexuality in the history of astronomy. For EONS, K. researched how NRAO can pursue ethical relationships with local communities surrounding the ngVLA sites, with an emphasis on Indigenous communities.
